A complete reroof in Oswestry
This Oswestry property has had a complete reroof, with the existing roof covering removed and the roof rebuilt before the new tiles were fitted.
The photographs show the work at several stages. They provide a useful view of what is involved in a full reroof, rather than simply replacing a few damaged tiles.
Stripping the existing roof
The first stage was to strip the existing covering back so the roof could be worked on properly. Scaffolding was in place around the property, providing access to the roof and a safe working platform.
Once the old covering had been removed, the roof structure was ready for the new roofing materials. The photographs show the exposed roof with the new red roofing felt and timber battens being installed.
New felt and battens
New roofing felt was fitted across the roof before the new timber battens were installed. The battens provide the fixing points and spacing needed for the new roof covering.
This stage is largely hidden once the job is finished, but it is an important part of the work. Taking the roof back to this stage allows the new covering to be installed on a properly prepared base.
Fitting the new tiles
The new dark roof tiles were then fitted across the prepared roof. The photographs show the tiles being stacked on the roof ready for installation, followed by the completed tiled surface.
The finished roof has a clean, regular appearance and the new covering follows the existing shape of the property. The chimney remains a clear feature of the roof.
