How long does it take to replace a bungalow roof? Here is one we completed in five days including removal of scaffolding and the skip. And it really was a complete new roof. We would say that is the average duration of replacing a bungalow roof – weather permitting.

Everything Replaced In This Roof

We stripped everything off this roof so we could install a new one. That included the old tiles which were broken and leaking everywhere. We removed old felt and battons because the existing felt was rotten and no longer fit for purpose. Old leaking leadwork around the chimney stacks was also removed.

New Roof Installation

New pressure-treated battons were installed over new breathable felt. This provides the basis for the new roof. New eaves trays are also fitted underneath the felt at the eaves edges. This supports the felt so that water flows directly into the gutters at the eaves end of the roof.

After this work is complete, new marley tiles cover the roof. We top these with the new dry ridge system which does not use concrete. The dry ridge system is used because it lasts longer and is less susceptible to heavy winds and rain.

Finally, to finish the installation of the new roof, we applied new lead work around the chimney stacks which helps water run directly down the roof and not under the tiles at the join.

Removal of Skips and Scaffolding

We have good relationships with our suppliers of skips and scaffolding. This means that they remove their products quickly. It also means you will typically have your house back to yourself after a roof replacement in about five days.

So how long does it take to replace a bungalow roof? About five days, depending on weather.
