A new roof was required at this traditional property in Wrexham. The slate tiles are in good condition, but the battens and felt underneath had deteriorated over the years and needed replacing.

Recycle Where Possible

We always like to recycle materials wherever possible. Slate is an extremely hardwearing and durable material. It is also a natural material and production of it is easier on the planet than some other materials. Therefore, we always try to reuse slate whenever possible.

Reuse of slate benefits the planet and is a lot easier on our clients’ finances too.

After installing scaffolding, we strip the existing slate tiles from the roof. Next, we remove the original felt and battens and dispose of them appropriately.

New Roofing Materials Where Necessary

We then replace the original tiles on to the new battens. The roof is now sturdy, wind and watertight and will remain that way for many years. In this property, the existing lead is in good condition. Therefore we left this in place, replacing it back over the tiles in a watertight way.
